Our Mission
West Brooklyn Waterfront Mutual Aid is a grassroots community collective created by neighbors, for neighbors. We aim to build solidarity in our neighborhoods by engaging with the principles of mutual aid: pooling resources, supporting each other’s needs and finding help for our most vulnerable neighbors. While WBWMA is based in West Brooklyn, we recognize that our well-being, health and freedom is interconnected with the well-being of our neighbors and we are committed to working with community members throughout Brooklyn.
What We Do
We provide free, no-contact pick up and delivery of groceries, prescriptions, and other essential items. We can also walk your pets, send and pick up mail, and run other errands. We also raise funds to provide immediate assistance to those who cannot afford groceries and other essentials. If you are sick, elderly, disabled, or otherwise at-risk to leave your home, or if you are struggling to cover the cost of essentials, we’re here to help. All personal information is kept confidential.
Where We Serve
The majority of our volunteers live in Brooklyn Heights, Carroll Gardens, Boerum Hill, Cobble Hill and the Columbia Waterfront. Most of our requests come from these neighborhoods, the immediate surroundings, and South Brooklyn. If we can’t get to your area, or if we know of a group who might get to you faster, we’ll work to match you with the nearest group covering your area.
